Life Observations

A friend of mine just sent me this email.  I loved it - so I'm posting it - because here in Pamelot - it's all about me and what I want to do.  :)  It's better than the forwarded email to everyone and their brother - just come here and read it.

Life Observations ...

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

2. Nothing stinks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5. How are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

6. Was learning cursive really necessary?

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.

13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

14. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this --- ever.

15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello?), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voice mail. What did you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

17. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

18. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

19. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.

21. I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

22. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I'm trying to finish a text.

23. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

24. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?

25. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!

26. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

27. Is it just me or do high school kids get dumber & dumber every year?

28. There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

29. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

30. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey...but I'd bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time every time !

Boston TSA can suck rocks

Yeah I know - I don't blog in forever and now I'm just full of it today.  :)

I have been traveling this past week for work - up in New England.  I mostly stayed in Nashua, NH, but traveled to the Massachusetts office and Rhode Island office as well.

On my way back home I flew out of Boston's Logan airport.  They have implimented the new full body xray machines instead of the regular metal detectors in the security lines.  OK - no biggy.  Something new to get used to - but whatever.  So I go through the xray thing and when I come out the other side they call over this woman to where I am.  She stops me and says she needs me to step to the side and she needs to pat me down.  She leans over and whispers that she specifically needs to feel under my bra and between my breasts.  I'm like - really?  Out here?  In front of everyone?  She says "I'll be discreet."  And before I can think she is feeling me up!  I tend to laugh at totally inappropriate times - this was one of those.  In my giggles I blurt out "Yeah - cause these boobs are a real danger to society."  The lady patting me down smiled - but the guy who was trying not to watch wasn't so amused.  Whatever.  Literally - she like had to put her hands in my cleavage and everything.  Craziness.

Then I go over to the xray machine that I put my bag and shoes and jacket through.  My bag is basically my brief case - had to take my laptop, etc... out.  There is a guy standing there waiting for me.  He explains that he needs to search my bag.  OK - figures - whatever.  He empties everything out of it and runs the contents and the bag through xray again.  Still didn't like what they saw I guess cause then they bring it over and swipe the inside of my bag with the wand thingy.  Then they take the wand and they put it in the little machine.  Well, don't ya know that alarm went all kinds of crazy.  People came running from everywhere.  Another woman comes over and explains that she needs to pat me down.  I'm like "Seriously?  I just got patted down over there not 5 minutes ago."  Yeah - don't argue with TSA.  So again - not taken aside in private or anything - spread your legs - put your hands up - all up in my buznass.  This time I made a concerted effort NOT to get the giggles.

Apparently they didn't find anything that would make me a danger to my fellow travelers.  Whew!

I heart Boston - but their TSA can suck rocks.

Don't mess with the Meadow Lake Hoodies!

So I love the neighborhood I live in.  I love my neighbors.  They are the best - and we all look out for each other.  I live on a quiet street that dead ends into a great farm.  I just love it.

We have our own Facebook group to keep in touch with each other.  It's always been a fun place for us to post pictures when it snows and of each others dogs, etc...

But earlier this week it became the local neighborhood watch.  Because we're tight - we know when there are people in the hood that shouldn't be.  Apparently there were some guys going house to house - asking questions - posing as ADT people.  Well, we know phony when we smell it.  Someone called the cops and they came out and told us to be on the look out for them because they were not legit and there had been several robberies in surrounding neighborhoods lately.

So when someone saw the car again - we took to Facebook.  Everyone was on "I just saw him turn down this street!"  "Is it the silver car with the dented fender?"  "I just saw the cops circle the neighborhood again!"  "Someone saw them looking in windows!"  They don't know who they are messing with.  We are better than neighborhood watch.

My husband works for a company that installs security systems and when they are done they put one of those little signs in the yard like you see with ADT.  So I thought I would make one up for our neighborhood.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!  Be afraid!  Be very afraid!

Then we took it a step further and came up with a gang sign:

Cause that's how we roll.  :)

The Spring Saunter Race Report

I have another race report.  Last weekend I ran The Spring Saunter 5K to support Habitat for Humanity.  I had a great race!  I couldn't believe how good I did!  It's true - that running longer distances makes your shorter distances faster.  And as always Jen kept me going.  She kept me going faster and pushed me to a time I didn't even think I was capable of.  I came in just under 34 minutes.  I know that is slow for most, but considering that my first race just 10 months ago was 45 minutes - I was thrilled.  I went from a 15 minute pace to a 10:49 pace.  I have another 5K that I have signed up for this coming weekend.  Jen won't be running this one with me - so I'm anxious to see if I can do as good without her.  :)  I highly doubt it.

Goal Met

I did my 10K this past weekend.  My running partner, Jen, did it with me.  She is such a huge help to me when I am running a race - she keeps me going - encouraging me along the way - like my own personal cheerleader.  I love running races with her.  I was disappointed because I had to stop at the half way point to visit the ladies room (how's that for being tactful about nature's call during a race).  My time would have been much better than I had expected had I not had to take that slight detour.  I was keeping a great pace (for me) before I had to take that break.  But now I have that under my belt.  :)  Here is a pic of me and Jen after the race.

My next race is this coming weekend - I am doing a 5K - the Spring Saunter with a bunch of people from work.  I'm looking forward to it.

Progress

I seem to be making all sorts of progress lately.  I have upped my mileage on my runs and today went 7.5 miles!  I still can't believe it!  I am coming to grips with the fact that I am more gifted in endurance than I am in speed.  I can go and go, but not very fast.  :)

It also seems that the scale may be moving again.  It hasn't moved since well before Thanksgiving.  I am hoping that I didn't just jinx it, though.  I guess time will tell.
